Franko’s Map of Big Bear Lake
Side 1 of Franko’s Map of Big Bear Lake is a fabulous, accurate depiction of this favorite Southern California boating and fishing playground. The lake is shown as a deepening blue body set in the green shaded relief of the local mountains. Then mountais themselves are computer-drawn, based on digital elevation model data from the USGS. Lake depth contours are shown at the high water level. Note that the level often drops due to drought. In addition to the extraordinary depiction of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding mountains, the map is loaded with information, courtesy of the Big Bear Municipal Water District. The official names of every cove and inlet are on the map. Every detail from the Big Bear Dam to the Stanfield Cutoff and beyond are shown. The locations of every launch and marina, the main roads all the way around the lake, camp sites, and much more are shown. This is almost like a tour book for Big Bear, although it is all placed on one 11" x 17" plastic sheet, which fits nicely in your pocket. It is nice to have a waterproof, rip-resistent map when you are on a boat or at the lake.
